Unforgettable Beach Moment: Mother’s Photo Reveals More Than Just Kids Playing

Many parents do their best to be examples for their children. We want them to grow up to be well-balanced, so we try to pass along any wisdom we have to them.

The last thing that many of us expect is for our children to turn the tables and be an example for us. It happens on occasion, however, and if we share it, those children may even be an example for many.

Ayanna Toye Barrows is somebody who understands this all too well. She posted a story on the Love What Matters Facebook page in 2016. Since then, it has received tens of thousands of shares and hundreds of thousands of likes.

In the picture that was shared, you see her daughter with another little boy. It’s a moving picture, but there’s more to it than what the picture tells.

They were on vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when the photo was taken. They were taking a sunset walk with each other when the sweet little boy came walking right up to her daughter.

The boy began to tell the girl about his shark tooth that he wore as a necklace. He got her name, shared his name, and they walked together for a little while.

Barrows wrote, “I asked his mother for permission to take this picture and this was the result. No one positioned them, told them to smile and there was absolutely no hesitation on their part at all.”

You can see the two with each other as if they have been friends for life. For Barrows, this was more than a nice memory, it was a special moment in time.

She said: “This is a moment that we humans understand as just simply seeing no color lines, no judgement, no race, no hate, no shades. It’s just pure….two kids meeting on a sunset walk without a care in the world…all they saw was each other.”

She went on to talk about how the world would be so much better if we acted like these children. Many of those who saw the post agreed with her and even included their own stories about their children.
