Sarah Ferguson Reaches Out To Princess Diana In An Emotional Post

It’s hard to believe that if Princess Diana would still be alive, she would be celebrating her 63rd birthday. Of course, we haven’t forgotten about her and some members of the royal family think about her often.

This includes Sarah, who is often referred to as Fergie. On July 1, she shared a special message that she wrote to Princess Diana along with a photo of her and Diana watching the Battle of Britain Anniversary Parade in 1990.

In the photo, they are standing together on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. They smile as it seems like a flyover is catching their attention. She wrote a message that is also very sweet.

She said: “Happy birthday to my dear friend, Diana. You were a pillar of light and love. And what a legacy you have left behind. I will forever remember our laughter and the kindred, kind spirit I found in you.

“I am sure you are watching over us always. Rest in peace, my friend”

Diana and Sarah had been friends since they were teenagers. They met in childhood and continued to be close as they grew up and got married.

Because of the friendship that Diana had with her, she was able to meet Prince Andrew and they got married in 1986. At that point, Diana and Sarah were more than friends, they were sisters-in-law. Interestingly, Diana and King Charles ended their marriage in the same year that Sarah and Andrew were divorced.

Fergie shared the following in an interview: “I said to her, ‘Oh, Andrew’s really good-looking. And she said, ‘Duh, Fergs!’”

The stress of being in the royal family also added to the stress that they were experiencing on a personal level. Sarah even admitted at one time that both of them suffered from mental health issues so they needed each other for moral support.

Sarah fondly remembers Diana telling her: “She said, ‘Fergie, remember one thing, When you’re at the top of the pedestal, it’s so easy to fall off. And you’re at the bottom. You just climb up. We were positioned as saint and sinner. And the most important thing was to remain robust together, and we did, no matter what anyone wrote.”
