One of the best-known country songs of all time was written decades ago. Many of the younger generation would be unfamiliar with the song if it weren’t for the fact that their favorite singers recognize how well the song was done and have taken it upon themselves to redo it.
This includes Beyoncé, who may be known for her pop music but recently, she is also known for her ability to sing any type of song. This includes country music, and her fans were thrilled to hear her singing it and even writing some new country songs.
Something else her fans appreciated was hearing Beyoncé rewriting that old country music song and putting her own spin on it. I’m talking about the iconic Dolly Parton song, Jolene, and she did it justice.
Now that her new country music album has been released, the Beehive is buzzing. It includes her newer music and some older music. One of the songs on the album is Jolene, a cover of the 1973 Dolly Parton song. The thing is, the song has new lyrics.
Beyoncé kept the flavor of the song, as it was written as a plea to a woman (Jolene) to leave her husband alone. Beyoncé, however, talks about ‘Becky with the good hair.’ This may be the woman Jay-Z had an affair with in 2015.
