Al Pacino Oscars Blunder: Reading The Winner Without Naming Nominees

Most people are familiar with Al Pacino because of the roles that he played in various movies. It seems as if his latest role, that of being an announcer at the Oscars, didn’t go as smoothly as his previous films.

He was announcing the award for best picture of the year. Typically, the announcer would talk about the nominations and then talk about the winner, but Al Pacino spoke about the winner first, Oppenheimer.

There were some questions as to whether they were running out of time and there were a lot of nominees this year. Thankfully, we know who the other films that lost to Oppenheimer were, and they include: The Holdovers, American Fiction, The Zone of Interest, Barbie, Poor Things, Past Lives, Anatomy of a Fall, Maestro and Killers of the Flower Moon.

Al Pacino seemed to have gotten off track while he was announcing the award. He was concerned that he would name their wrong film, and I think that all of us understand that could be a stressful situation.

He even announced it strangely, aside from the fact that he didn’t talk about the nominees. He said that his eyes saw Oppenheimer, and that he fully pulled the cart out and verified it.

It didn’t take long for social media to be buzzing with comments about what he had done. It will be interesting to see what happens at next year’s Oscars.
