One of the more difficult things we will ever have to face in life is losing a loved one in death. It’s an experience that causes deep grieving that sometimes will last for a lifetime.
There are also times when the grieving is punctuated because we may lose more than one person in our lives. Rod Stewart is somebody who understands this all too well, because he recently lost his brother Bob only months after losing his other brother, Don.
Stuart went on Instagram to share the news, expressing his sorrow at such a loss. In the statement, he said: “It’s with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, who joins my brother Don on the great football pitch in the sky.”
The rock singer has had difficulty dealing with the loss in his life. He said that both Bob and Don were ‘irreplaceable buddies’ and how he had lost two of his best mates in only two months.
In September 2022, Rod lost his older brother Don. He paid tribute to him and their sister at a party, acknowledging how important they were to his success. He said that they were ‘crucial in supporting me,’ and helping him to get into music.
Mary is the only remaining sibling of Rod Stewart at this time. He has a deep appreciation for his brothers and sisters, speaking of how amazing they have been in his life.
Even though he is going through a very difficult time, the 78-year-old singer will soon be visiting Florida for a performance. It will be difficult without his brothers to be there to support him, but he will do his best through the problems.
In addition, Rod Stewart has faced a number of health challenges, including being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000. He was able to recover after surgery but the issue continued to linger. He had to teach himself how to sing again but was grateful that chemotherapy wasn’t necessary.
He also revealed that in 2016, he had prostate cancer and had been battling it in secret. It was during a routine checkup that he got the diagnosis and he decided to go to a fundraiser for prostate cancer awareness to talk about it. Later that year he received an all-clear.
Rod Stewart has gone through his ups and downs but we are so thankful that he has been there for us. We hope that he finds peace during this difficult time in life.
