Many people are rightfully shocked when they heard about the woman who kept her 2-year-old child in a cage. It was even more shocking to learn that she was trying to sell a child for $1.2 million.
Claire Boyle was that woman and she was vilified for her bad deeds. Now, there is another layer to the story because her body was discovered after police were called to her house.
According to a police spokesman: “Around 7AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024, police were called to a property in the Main Street area of Ochiltree, following the sudden death of a woman.”
It was also reported that there does not seem to be any suspicious circumstances associated with the discovery.
Boyle, who is thought to be in her 30s, had been convicted a number of times previously for child neglect. This included an incident in 2021, when a 4-year-old child was neglected to the point where the doctors were worried he had blood cancer or a blood clotting disorder.
This became public knowledge after the child fled from the house through a window. He managed to fit through a 6 inch gap and jumped 4 feet to the ground. They found him roaming the streets wearing only pajamas.
When they went to the residence, where she lived with her partner, Timothy Johnstone, they were shocked to find a 2-year-old child in a cage. It was the base of a cot that had been removed and attached to the top with belts from dressing gowns. Once the child was inside, they would not be able to escape.
After being found guilty in a trial, they did not have to go to jail but she did have to complete 250 hours of community service.
Other incidents go back to 2014, when she was unconscious on the couch and a baby was at her feet. She was also convicted of trying to sell a baby for $1.2 million.
